TikTok ban??? NOOO, we all say in unison and run to REDnote. šŸƒā€ā™€ļøšŸŽ’

This is a weird time for social media where it feels like we're all treading rocky waters. The big question right now is the big "if." If this ban does go into effect, how will we be prepared for what platforms to use next and the kind of content we can throw out- especially because every algorithm is different?

So, if you're in the travel, hospitality, outdoor, or health and fitness industries, here are content ideas you can use on other platforms with an explanation on how each of the algorithms work- including IG.

Boat in the middle of the ocean
Boat in the middle of the ocean

1. Instagram

is all about aesthetics, relatability, and poorly made skits that grab users' attention (no offense). Think, "5 restaurants with amazing sushi around LA," or,

"My wife and I were burnt out, so we booked a cruise with Royal Caribbean," or,

"Winter arc: training now for the craziest summer glow up," or,

"New year, new goals. GRWM to train to hike into the Grand Canyon."

2. YouTube

It's a long form platform but, of course, it's also a short form platform when you use their shorts. YouTube thrives off of exaggerated thumbnails that grab your attention. Think, "EASY 20 minute workout routine for beginners," or,

Vlog style content like, "GRWM as I prepare to hike South Mountain,"

And long form stories like, "packing up to travel to LA," showcasing clips from waking up, going through TSA, sitting on the plane, to walking around downtown LA. You could use the hook, "Flying to LA from the East Coast" and punch that into a thumbnail.

Consider taking clips from your long form stories and throwing them on shorts for greater reach.

If you can, throw in phrases on thumbnails like, "you're NOT GOING TO BELIEVE what TSA told us," or,

"GAMECHANGING hiking shoes you have to try."

3. LinkedIn

is... well, let's face it... all about snobby people trying to one up each other. But it's great because you can use this to your advantage!

If you create long form content, you can draw out a story without even using images or videos.

Break up paragraphs constantly.

Consistently.

Just like this.

And mention so-called monumental achievements reached using your product/service.

You could also talk about how your brand helps people with productivity or getting up in the morning before work.

All of these tips give you a chance to be relatable, but also slide in a message about your brand, product, or service in the middle of each story.
